Port Szczecin

A unique in Europe, or perhaps in the world, versatile purpose building now available for lease in the Szczecin Seaport.

After a successful start to the container service from Szczecin, Tschudi Logistics Holding AS is increasing capacity. From October 2014 m/v Uranus 510-TEUs will be deployed on their weekly Tschudi Lines Baltic Sea service.

Over a year ago the first shovel was buried in the ground to commence the building of a new terminal in the port of Szczecin. The investment by CRONIMET PL sp. z o.o. aimed at developing a terminal in the Szczecin Seaport to handle ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

On 25th September this year, the Board of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority was appreciated in the IT sector and received an award of the Minister of Economy presented by Grażyna Henclewska, the Deputy Minister, for innovative application of ICT technologies in the economy.

On Wednesday, 24 September this year, in Liepe, Germany (about 100 km away from Szczecin), the 18th International Oder and Havel College was held. During the meeting, Dr Zbigniew Miklewicz, the Chairman of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, delivered a paper on the transport role of Oder.

A barge set out from the Szczecin port under a project of ‘Our Oder!’. The cruise of ‘Counteracting myths regarding Oder’ started with a conference held in Szczecin on 24 September. The conference attracted representatives of the Regional Government, Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, Czech business and a research company which intends to register the cruise and then present findings at the end of the cruise. The distance from Szczecin to the port of Koźle will be covered by the barge within a week, so on 1 October, in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, findings of the research will be discussed together with conclusions as a part of the final conference. The organizer of the cruise is the Association for the Development of Inland Shipping and Waterways - the ‘Council of Inland Shipping Masters’.

The horizon of the Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaports Strategy has been set at 2027. It has its practical dimension since it covers two complete EU budget periods. It is related to the fact that EU funding accounts for a significant part of the investment in the ports. The new Strategy provides for investment of nearly PLN900 million.

On 6th of August 2014 m/v Flottbek made its first Riga- Gdynia -Szczecin call in the adjusted lately Unifeeder Baltic schedule. M/v Flottbek with its 169 meters length and 1638 TEU nominal capacity is the biggest Unifeeder vessel operating in the Baltic Sea.

Cargo handling in ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście has been steadily growing. In comparison with the first six months of the previous year, it increased by 8% to reach 11.4 million tonnes.

On 12-14.06, the 2nd International Maritime Congress was held in Szczecin. It was the largest meeting of the sector in this part of Europe which attracted over 500 attendees and fifty speakers to Szczecin to discuss the status and development of the maritime sector. On those days, the city was converted into a discussion centre with the main themes focusing on the maritime economy.
